The UNESCO Chair on Open Technologies for Open Educational Resources and Open Education at the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) – whose OE4BW program is coordinated by IRCAI – and the University of Nova Gorica (UNG) have officially launched the eighth round of the Open Education for a Better World (OE4BW) international mentorship program. This year, the program received 125 total, selecting 92 projects and engaging 160 developers from 26 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and Australia. Supported by 90 expert mentors and coordinated by 11 thematic hub coordinators, the program continues to expand its global reach.

The projects are organized into 11 thematic hubs, ensuring focused efforts in key educational areas:

  • 4 Hubs in Education & Pedagogy
  • 2 Hubs in Sustainability
  • 2 Hubs in Health and Well-being
  • 2 Hubs in Artificial Intelligence
  • 1 Hub for Youth Developers.

The program’s unique mentorship approach connects educational material developers with expert volunteers, fostering the creation of high-quality Open Educational Resources (OERs) that contribute to the implementation of UNESCO’s Recommendation on OER and support the advancement of SDG 4 (Quality Education).

Over the coming months, developers will collaborate with expert mentors to refine their projects and transform innovative ideas into impactful OERs. This year’s cohort builds on the momentum of over 450 projects and 537 participants from 45 countries developed in previous editions.
