UNESCO RECOMMENDATION ON THE ETHICS OF AI

Online expert meeting

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the virtual Sub-Regional Consultation (Group II) on the elaboration of a Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence which is jointly organized by the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence under the auspices of UNESCO (IRCAI), the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia, the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO and UNESCO HQ.

The Sub-Regional Consultation of European States of Group II to UNESCO will follow the theme of a truly global and inclusive Recommendation on the Ethics of Al that reflects different cultural values, addresses regional concerns, and ensures that Al supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, a task at the core of IRCAI´s workload.

The objectives of the European Region (Group II) virtual Sub-Regional Consultation are to give meaningful inputs into the overall structure and draft text of the Recommendation to be accepted at the 41st session of UNESCO’s General Conference in 2021. We are looking forward to a proactive consultation process.

Yours sincerely,
prof dr Simona Kustec Lipicer
Minister of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia
