IRCAI was part of the AI Governance Week 2026, held in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and international organisations to discuss how AI governance principles can be translated into practical implementation.

IRCAI was represented by Davor Orlic, who took part in the panel discussion “Bridging the Gap: From Global AI Governance Frameworks to Real-World Practice,” organised by the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA). The event formed part of the AI Governance Practice Centres (AIGPC) Annual Conference, which focused on one of today’s most pressing challenges: transforming high-level AI governance principles into effective policies and practices.

Throughout the conference, participants explored how governments, industry, and international organisations can work together to build AI ecosystems that are both innovative and responsible. Discussions emphasised that ethical AI should not be viewed as a limitation but as a foundation for trust, adoption, and long-term competitiveness.

Thailand presented a range of practical initiatives demonstrating its commitment to responsible AI governance. These include guidance for organisations adopting generative AI, governance frameworks for executives, AI Job Redesign Guidelines, and capacity-building programmes designed to help organisations prepare both their workforce and governance structures for the AI era. These initiatives illustrate how AI governance can move beyond principles towards real-world implementation.

IRCAI’s participation reinforced its commitment to supporting international cooperation on trustworthy AI and contributing to the development of governance approaches that are practical, inclusive, and aligned with UNESCO’s values. The conference also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with ETDA and other international partners working to advance responsible AI governance worldwide.
