General description of the AI solution

Util is an award-winning provider of sustainability intelligence to financial institutions. Our evidence-driven analytics capture the performance of 50,000 listed companies—of every size, region, and sector—relative to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 169 sub-targets, and 2,000 sustainability concepts, empowering investors to better understand and optimise their real-world impact. Clients work with Util to research companies, report on portfolios, and create differentiated financial products benchmarked against material sustainability issues.

Unlike incumbent ESG data providers, Util isn't occupied by how a company’s enterprise value is affected by society and the environment. We uses AI to shed light on how a company affects society and the environment, instead, yielding deeper insights into company exposure. The result is sustainability data of financial-data quality.

Three features set it apart.

First, specificity: We reveal every social and environmental externality, and both positive and negative impact.

Second, scientific: Our input is 120 million peer-reviewed conclusions, so investors can trust our conclusions.

Third, scope: We evaluate every listed company, so our data can be used by global investors.

The unique strength of our approach is reflected in significant growth over a short period of 18 months. We’ve built a growing roster of asset management clients, been selected for world-leading tech accelerator programmes, gained a powerful market voice, and, most recently, completed a multi-million dollar investment round that puts one step closer to achieving our ambitious vision: embed transparent and trusted impact data into every financial transaction, globally.

Util’s innovative approach and insights have been recognised by a number of prestigious awards. Most recently, we won 'Best Sustainable Investment Research & Ratings Provider' at Investment Week’s Sustainable Investment Awards 2022, where it was also highly commended for 'Best Sustainable Thought Leadership Paper’. Util also won ESG Research of the Year, North America at Environmental Finance’s Sustainable Investment Awards 2022.
