About

Plooto is an EU-funded Horizon Europe project focused on supporting manufacturers in their green, digital, and circular transition. The project aims to deliver a Circular and Resilient Information System (CRIS) that enables efficient resource usage, waste reduction, and end-to-end traceability of Secondary Raw Materials (SRM). By providing interconnected digital services for real-time decision-making, monitoring, and certification of materials and products, Plooto will facilitate the reuse and recycling of materials, improve waste management practices, and promote circular value chains. The solution will be piloted in three circular supply chains to demonstrate the benefits of waste reduction, reusability, and operational improvements.

What is the problem the project is addressing?

The increasing demand for scarce resources and critical raw materials (CRMs) has made it essential to improve resource efficiency through recycling, reuse, and responsible waste management. However, achieving these goals requires the creation of robust systems for monitoring, tracking, and certifying materials throughout their lifecycle. Plooto addresses the need for a digital solution that enables manufacturers to manage these challenges effectively while supporting their transition to a circular economy.

How is it solving the problem?

Plooto delivers an innovative digital platform designed to foster collaboration and the establishment of industrial alliances for implementing circular value chains. The platform will include tools and services for real-time monitoring, decision-making, and material certification. Through three pilot projects—Citrus Waste Processing, CFRP Waste for Drones, and WEEE for Magnets—the project will demonstrate how waste can be reduced, scrap and by-products reused, and operational improvements achieved across different circular supply chains.

Expected Tangible results

Key outcomes include:

  • A Circular and Resilient Information System (CRIS) that supports manufacturers in the digital and circular transition by providing real-time decision-making and certification for Secondary Raw Materials (SRM).
  • Successful validation of the platform through three pilot projects, demonstrating waste reduction and the reusability of materials.
  • An interconnected digital ecosystem that promotes collaborative practices and industrial alliances, enabling the efficient implementation of circular value chains.
  • Operational improvements across the piloted supply chains, showing measurable results in resource efficiency and waste management.
  • A scalable and adaptable system that can be used in other industries to drive the circular economy forward.

PROJECT PARTNERS

Plooto is a collaborative effort among leading organizations across Europe, bringing together expertise in digital solutions, resource management, and circular economy practices. 20 project partners from 9 countries will contribute to the development, testing, and deployment of the Circular and Resilient Information System (CRIS) and will play a key role in the pilot implementations and industry collaborations.
