General description of the AI solution
Breast cancer is one of the most common causes of death in the female population
worldwide and one of the most prevalent cancers among other types of cancer.
An early and adequate diagnosis is a key factor for an appropriate treatment,
increasing the probability of survival. Breast masses and calcification is an essential
parameter for the prognosis of breast lesion. However, the mammographic
image’s mass and calcification detection needs a deeper investigation due to
their heterogeneity and anomalies’ characteristics that are easily confused with
other objects present in the image. Hence, our objective of this project is to
compare the breast lesion detection with three model networks of deep learning
technique to provide support for radiologists in detection of lesions from
mammograms. The overall process involves image preprocessing, classification
and performance evaluation. our results in this project show that it is possible
to achieve a satisfactory results on breast lesions detection using a CNN trained
with x ray mammogram images
